The Wabanaki Maple Story

Maple syrup is often known as one of the most iconic Canadian products — something we enjoy on everything from pancakes to salmon. Many of us have fond memories of rolling maple syrup on snow for a sweet treat.

Long before sugar was introduced through the fur trade, Indigenous Peoples of the First Nations were harvesting sap from maple trees across the land now known as Canada. This natural, sweet, and nourishing resource was used for food, medicine, and trade.

The knowledge and traditions of maple harvesting were passed down through generations. Each spring, as the maple moon rises, the process begins — collecting, boiling, and refining the sap into the rich syrup we know today.

With its nourishing and healing properties, maple syrup has long been cherished and was one of many gifts shared with early settlers, helping them survive and thrive.

Today, Wabanaki Maple continues this tradition while adding a modern twist with unique flavour infusions like elderberry and chipotle, alongside their classic syrup. Each bottle reflects both heritage and innovation.

Proudly 100% Indigenous female-owned, Wabanaki Maple is located on Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) and represents the shared traditions of the Wabanaki Confederacy: Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq, Penobscot, Abenaki, and Passamaquoddy.

Harvested and crafted using techniques passed down through generations, this maple syrup is more than a product — it’s a connection to culture, land, and history.

Discover a taste of tradition and innovation in every bottle.
